DEALING WITH MARITAL AND FAMILY ISSUES

A family therapist is someone who helps a family deal with the problems they might be facing. These problems could be due to various reasons. There could be some financial crisis, issues between the couple, illness, death, extra marital affair of one of the parents or anything else. A therapist helps the family by making them sit and speak out about their points of view and the concerns they have. Then, they help the family members of the family understand each other’s stand to the certain issue and might then provide with some trust exercises that can help ease out the tension between them.

When a problem comes up in a marriage, the couple may at first try to solve it within themselves, and if that does not help too, they may turn to their close ones or family members who they trust and can confide into. But ultimately, if nothing works out, they will have to seek help of a professional therapist who practices marriage counselling as well.

Some of the reasons that people come to a therapist or may have problems within the marriage is lack of trust between the couple, lack of intimacy, extra marital affair, financial issues, lack of attention, and so on. However, it is important to remember that if the marriage involves either emotional or physical abuse or both, it is best that the victim partner gets out of it. A different kind of therapy might be needed for this altogether.
