Signs of A Healthy Relationship

Relationships are an important aspect of one’s life. Humans are social animals. They are bound to have relationships throughout with different people. Emotions, attachments, guilt, commitment, communication are all the things that come together in a relationship. There is no such thing as a perfect relationship. No two people can be happy together all the time. In fact, if they are, then that is a sign of a problem. If you are in a relationship and are in two minds about how healthy the relationship is or if you need a relationship advisor, you can simply read through this article.

Let’s talk about what is a healthy relationship. A healthy relationship is a relationship where two people share a connection based on mutual respect, honesty, communication, and trust. If you have to think twice before talking to your partner about a problem you’ve been facing, then probably it isn’t a healthy relationship. If you feel caged, burdened, or pressurized; then probably your relationship isn’t healthy either.  Most couples describe a healthy relationship as a relationship where they can talk about things that bother them. Whether they are small or big, the fact that conflict can be resolved peacefully is a sign of a healthy relationship. It shows that your partner is receptive towards your feelings and cares enough to work towards the relationship.

One other important factor that is crucial for a healthy relationship is not losing identity as an individual. Both the partners need to be themselves first and be a couple together. Simply put, they can’t lose sight of the things they like, places they like just because their partner doesn’t like them, or they can’t do it together. You should do things together with your partner, that builds your bond and you should do things with yourself that keep your mind at peace. Not losing your individuality is the key to have a successful relationship with another individual. If you fail to do so, you will probably bottle up issues and eventually would need to consult a mental health therapist. In the beginning of the relationship, people want to do everything together with their partner. They want to spend as much time as they can together. However, this is not healthy and can be toxic in the long run.

There are many red flags that you spot in a toxic or an unhealthy relationship. The truth is how you choose to tackle these problems and whether you are willing to solve them determines the fate of the relationship.  In an unhealthy relationship, your partner often manipulates you emotionally. If there are any signs of violence, then your relationship is definitely unhealthy. However, there is still hope. The willingness of both partners to work together towards a healthy relationship can bring back the lost love and help them lead a happier life. At such times, couple therapy can be extremely helpful and help both the partners to work on themselves and their relationship. You can look for a good couple therapist and talk to your partner about this. Do not lose hope.

Two people with different ideologies and different thinking striving to be accommodating of each other’s needs and maintaining a balance in their own. This system of accommodating and acceptance is going to have a little bit of friction leading to minor fights. But what is important, is how the two people make up after the fight and whether they accept and move on from the incident. Sometimes, a fight or a situation can be so gruesome that both or one of the individuals cannot let go of it. That is when they need the help of a relationship advisor who may be a friend close to the family, a family member or a professional who is trained to deal with couples’ issues on a daily basis. This relationship advisor’s main aim is to first...
