When you break your leg, and after spending a few months in a cast, you go for physical therapy, right? Similarly, after facing a trauma that has taken a toll on you, to go for therapy to become better equipped in dealing with the trauma or even getting rid of it altogether. While therapy has lived on the fringes of mainstream society for many years, the recent uptick in more and more people talking about it has certainly given it a boost. Group counseling, in recent years has picked up in terms of popularity mostly due to pop culture. It is a lot cheaper than individual therapy and contrary to popular belief, just as effective too. However, like mentioned above, it really depends on the person and the reason. Sometimes, you feel like you are a force fit in a group and then there is no progress from there. You need to comfortable with not just your therapists, but also ten to fifteen other people in the room. Hence, it really cannot be said what kind of therapy works for someone. At the end of the day, it is your call, what you’re comfortable with and how much you’re willing to shell out.
