HOW A RELATIONSHIP ADVISOR COULD SAVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP

Every couple faces issues in their relationship. Strife is a fact of life and when two people decide to come together as a couple, there are bound to be problems from time to time. However, occasionally, things reach a point where it feels like there is no coming back. Communication breaks down and people find it difficult to even communicate their basic needs and wants to their significant other. In such a situation, a relationship advisor could truly make a difference.

Couple therapy is very different from regular therapy and it is important for you to understand the distinction. Regular therapy is about you trying to deal with your individualistic problems. On the other hand, couples’ therapy is focused on mending relationships between people. So, it needs both people to attend therapy together. How does the therapist work? For starters, they will give you and your partner a chance to speak and talk about your problems. This is done in a non-confrontational way and both are encouraged to be as honest as possible. There is an effort made to make it seem less like an argument and more like a venting session. Once that is done, the therapist will take notes and will try and identify problem areas. You need to understand that the therapist will not play the role of a judge and neither will they take a side. Instead, they will try their best to figure out the gaps in your relationship and will try to help you and your partner identify and fix them.

For couples’ therapy to be successful, it is important for both the parties to be equally committed to finding a solution to their troubles. This can only happen if both you and your partner are totally honest and work hard towards building a stronger and happier relationship.
