Teenage years are some of the most stressful
years in a person’s life for puberty brings with them hormonal changes, life
changes, bodily changes and more. A teenager may not always be comfortable
talking to their parents about certain personal matters. Hence, a life coach
plays the role of a therapist
for teens to discuss certain matters that a teenager might not be
comfortable discussing and are of optimal need to be discussed to chalk out
ideal and healthy solutions.
What does a life coach do?
A life coach acts as a guide for teenagers as
well as adults and helps them find their way through life. The primary goal of
treatment is to help the teenager recognize what they want in life and how they
can plan their goals in order to attain what they want. A life coach also acts
as a sounding board to help a teenager rationalize their thoughts and decisions
and how they can address their weaknesses and fears. A life coach may also
offer surface level depression therapy
if need be to help a teenager through their emotional turmoil.
What does a life coaching session comprise
of?
A life coach helps a teenager to assess
and analyse the areas of their life that they need to pay attention to the
most. Once a plan is chalked out, strategies and goals are set for a teenager
to abide by and follow. These goals are short-term goals and they need to be
attained and accomplished before the next session. Life coaching can be used at
any point during a person’s life and it can address any and every problem. It
is important that medication isn’t prescribed by life coaches. A life coach
focuses on the present whereas a therapist focuses on the past, so life
coaching and therapy aren’t the same. Additionally, life coaching encourages
your child to learn self-development techniques that builds their confidence
and self-esteem.
